About Me
I have enjoyed painting for as long as I can remember. A friend of my parents, a famous artist taught me how to draw and oil paint in my early life. I eventually went on to teach middle school art for two years before I entered college to study Chemistry. After graduating, I went on to teach High School Chemistry for three years. I Then went through a rigorous exam required to gain admission to Graduate School, into one of China’s most prestigious electronic universities where I received my Master's degree in Electronic Engineering. My Research was published with IEEE International Conference where I spoke, in audience were many scientists from around the world.. I was hoping to be a top scientist after I saw so many world famous scientists in the field at that conference. I gathered the required books I needed to study for the examination of admission for PhD. I had to abandon because I could not leave my little daughter. I worked as an Engineer for about 5 years and was named to the position of Director of the electronic ceramic material research center. After a short time, I left my position. This was a time when engineers didn't get paid well and it was a struggle for me to give my daughter those things she deserved. I then went to study fashion design, and opened my own fashion company. I worked very hard and many hours each day. I did make considerable money at the time, and gave my daughter whatever she wanted, that is all but my time. Alas, as you know, money can't buy everything!
That was about my life before I came to America to join my husband.
I was amazed when I first saw a watercolor painting that looked like a photo. So I studied and practiced to do the same thing. I eventually was able to paint watercolor photo like myself, but I tired of it, felt it was boring to paint from photo. That was when I took a break from painting. I went to a local college to study photography. When I finally went back to painting, after two years, I began to paint still life from life. I believe this is what I truly enjoy. I like to see the shapes, colors, values, light and shadow through my eyes, not through the camera lens, and that's the exciting part of painting which drives me to paint almost every day.
I am now living in Stroudsburg, PA with my husband Mark who has always encouraged and supported me to paint. My daughter, Michyla, who is my pride, enjoys painting as well. She graduated from Notre Dame with a double major, Pre Med and Studio Art, in both gaining high honors. Her art professor told me that Michyla is The Best student she has ever had in her 20 years teaching career. Michyla is a doctor now. |
